Ichiro's Malt Chichibu - London Edition 2022

The exquisite Chichibu London Edition 2022 Whisky is a prized creation from the renowned Chichibu Distillery in Japan. This is the fifth release of Chichibu's London Edition, produced annually to coincide with The Whisky Show. While originally delayed at the time of the original event, the release was not made available until July 2022, making this a highly sought-after and limited edition with an outturn of 1,861 bottles.

The bottling is a masterful vatting of nine casks, including Cognac, Oloroso, and Chibidaru casks. This exceptional blend predominantly comprises first-fill bourbon barrels and casks that previously contained peated whisky. The result is a whisky that offers a delightful interplay of flavours.

On the nose, Chichibu London Edition 2022 opens with inviting aromas of fresh red berries, citrus peel, and delicate floral notes, underpinned by hints of toasted oak and vanilla. The palate reveals a rich and dynamic array of flavors, including sweet cherry, creamy caramel, and subtle spiced clove, balanced by a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of wine-soaked oak, gentle smoke, and a whisper of dried fruits, leaving a sophisticated and lasting impression.
