This exceptional whisky is the result of a carefully crafted vatting of casks aged between 3 and 5 years old. The majority of these casks are first-fill ex-bourbon, which impart their rich and flavorful characteristics to the whisky. In addition to the ex-bourbon casks, there are also second-fill chibidaru casks included in the mix. These smaller casks, known for their intensity, contribute additional depth and complexity to the final product.
To add an extra layer of uniqueness, some hogsheads with mizunara heads were incorporated into the maturation process. Mizunara, also known as Japanese oak, is highly prized for its distinctive aromatic qualities, infusing the whisky with captivating notes of sandalwood, incense, and spices.
Furthermore, a portion of the vatting includes peated whisky, which adds a smoky and earthy dimension to the overall flavor profile. This carefully balanced combination of cask types and peated whisky creates a whisky with exceptional depth, character, and complexity.
The whisky was bottled in 2013, capturing the spirit and essence of the maturation process. Each bottle is a testament to the skill and expertise of the distillery's master blenders, who have artfully combined these various cask influences to create a truly remarkable expression.
This limited-edition bottling offers a rare opportunity to experience the distinctive characteristics of the casks used in the maturation process.
